Dongjun Kim (DJ)

I am a Los Angeles-based VFX artist, digital compositor, filmmaker, and CG generalist, currently residing in Culver City, CA. Born in South Korea, I bridge the worlds of high-end commercial visual effects and autonomous visual artistry.

My professional journey is anchored by a master’s degree (MFA) in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City (2018) and a BFA from Hongik University in South Korea (2012), spanning disciplines from film and motion graphics to contemporary sculpture.

As a recognized expert in the field, I was inducted as a member of the prestigious Visual Effects Society (VES) in 2024. Over the years, I have built a robust career in the visual effects industry, contributing as a digital compositor and CG generalist at premier studios such as Mammal Studios and FuseFX. My extensive filmography includes major feature films and television series for Marvel Studios, Netflix, Paramount+, Disney, and Warner Bros. (with recent credits including Thunderbolts, Rebel Moon, Mayor of Kingstown, and Yellowstone). Notably, I also contributed to the cutting-edge development phase of the MSG Sphere project, designing high-resolution content for both its interior screen and the iconic ExoSphere.

Alongside my studio career, my independent film Fun to Cook “World’s Best Food” (2018) has achieved international acclaim, winning prestigious awards including the Grand Prix at the Concordia Film Festival in Montreal, the Jury Award at the Oxford Film Festival, and the Finalist at the Brooklyn Sci-Fi Film Festival. My work constantly balances between highly technical, commissioned visual effects for Hollywood productions and deeply personal, autonomous artworks—constantly exploring the boundaries of film, video, and digital media.
